Here’s some more GH ink in a different form. Brian (Super 7) sent me this pic recently that he took a couple months ago at A.P.E. Yep that’s a tattoo of Lakshmi from Sanjay’s 1st book. Any other Ghee Happy or even *PMH tattoos out there? Send the pics over, we’ll hook you up with some free *PMH merch!

Travelin’ Ghee Show.

I took over Sanjay’s crib in Oakland while he’s been traveling throughout Asia, the last 2 months. I wish I could’ve joined, but it didn’t work out this time around, I needed to stick around the States. 2010 for sure!

Here are some great shots from the past couple weeks. Chillin’ on the mothaship….

Labor Day Weekend.

This past weekend was definitely full of labor (of love.)

a.jpg

I headed out to Oakland on Friday to work on Sanjay’s book. I knew there was a lot to do before Tuesday’s deadline, but I didn’t realize I would be at his place for 4 days straight! It’s been great seeing this book from its early stages in March ’07 all the way to the final details. It feels special to be part of this project and to have Sanjay in my daily life ever since I got to SF. I’ve dedicated myself to *PMH  and it’s inspiring to have someone close in my life working on the same foundation, South Asian pop culture.

I can’t wait for this book to drop, it’s gonna make a lot of waves.

We went thru every page on screen and in print a number of times, bringing out a finer tooth for each round

After working nonstop, we started taking shifts, so we wouldn’t burn out.
Time to clock in….

We took a nice break on Sunday and headed to Marin….

The 5 days were fueled by chai, eggs, coffee and take out.

I finally got back home on Monday night.  Cleaned up, made some final changes on Tuesday morning, and dropped off the final files to Chronicle. Here’s Emily the Editor holding the final book on the thumb drive. Thanks for the lunch Chronicle! Man, I definitely got loopy after that daytime wine. Look for the book on March 1, 2010!!

Fresh Ghee.

It’s been close to 4 years since Sanjay (Ghee Happy) started working on his second book, Ramayana/Divine Loophole. I’ve been lucky to be part of the process ever since I moved out to San Francisco, almost 2 and a half years ago. It’s been great to see the steps, from the story boarding to the various illustration styles that he was exploring. It’s crazy how many variations of the book this kid went through, it’s been very inspiring to see each and every step.

gh_chron4.jpg

The past couple weeks I’ve been getting in the files and helping with the type/copy in the book. So last week Sanjay and I headed downtown into Chronicle Books to have a meeting with Emily and Michael to discuss some changes as well as to check out some color proofs that they just got back from China.

Of coarse I had to take some pictures during the meeting.

Here’s a first peak at the new book, exclusive shit y’all!

Brown Magic.

After a great meal at House of Nanking in SF a couple weekends ago, Sanjay (GheeHappy) and I headed to the south bay, on my mom’s request,……

nanking_pmh.jpg

to wait in this room for 2 1/2 hours……..

naram_001.jpg

….to meet up with this badass……for some brown magic!

naram_002.jpg

People are hardcore believers of this moustached man. His name is Dr. Naram, and he’s got his own show on Zee TV. He practices ancient healing techniques, supposedly a master in the science of Ayurveda. Check out this clip of him helping out some firefighters in NYC after 9-11. He doesn’t restrict his clientele to only humans. The day before we got there a person brought their 2 wolves for a checkup. He’s supposedly a healer of all things.

naram_003.jpg

Damn I need some crazy photos like these, too cool. I think that’s Bubbles?

naram_monkey.jpg

Dr. Naram’s gatekeepers, kept us entertained during our long wait…..

naram_004.jpg

naram_005.jpg

After waiting for a couple hours, it was my time! I went in, he touched my wrist asked me a couple questions about my health, and within 4 minutes I was out with a couple prescriptions. The whole experience was a bit rushed, which made it feel a bit scammish, but I’m trying to look at it in a positive light. I’ll let you guys know in a couple months after I start taking his herbs.

naram_007.jpg

Word. Spread the Ghee Happy / *PMH love Dr. Naram!!
