History of Unforgetting

parul.jpg

My friend Parul put together a show with her dance company, entitled “History of Unforgetting,” inspired by the South Asian female temple-court artists. It is going to be held in NYC at Dance New Amsterdam next Friday and Saturday (October 3rd and 4th.)

If you haven’t seen her perform yet I highly recommend attending.

Kinsmen.

Rudresh Mahanthappa dropped a new album, entitled Kinsmen, this month collaborating with Kadri Gopalnath, a true innovator in bringing the saxophone to Indian classical music.

Rudresh’s last album, Codebook, got on the top jazz albums of 2006 in both the Village Voice and Jazztimes. Also I was lucky enough to work with Rudresh again on the packaging for this album. Heres a shot of a sheet I just received from the press…..
